This is mom’s famous chocolate cake. Despite not coming from a mix, it is quite easy and simple to make, and delicious every time!

Equipment

  • 1 Bowl (large)
  • 1 Bowl (medium)
  • 1 Cake pan (9×9, greased)

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup White Sugar
  • 1 cup Miracle Whip
  • 2 cup Flour
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 2 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 1 cup Water
  • 4 tbsp Cocoa
  • Icing (see Chocolate Icing recipe)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350℉
  • In the Medium Bowl, mix the Miracle Whip and White Sugar (mix 1)
  • In the Large Bowl, mix the Flour, Salt and Baking Soda (mix 2)
  • Add Mix 1 to Mix 2
  • Add in the Vanilla, Water and Cocoa and mix well
  • Pour into the Greased Cake Pan
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes, using a toothpick to ensure proper doneness
  • Once cooled, spread on the icing
