
Mom’s Chocolate Cake
This is mom’s famous chocolate cake. Despite not coming from a mix, it is quite easy and simple to make, and delicious every time!
Equipment
- 1 Bowl (large)
- 1 Bowl (medium)
- 1 Cake pan (9×9, greased)
Ingredients
- 1 cup White Sugar
- 1 cup Miracle Whip
- 2 cup Flour
- ½ tsp Salt
- 2 tsp Baking Soda
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- 1 cup Water
- 4 tbsp Cocoa
- Icing (see Chocolate Icing recipe)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350℉
- In the Medium Bowl, mix the Miracle Whip and White Sugar (mix 1)
- In the Large Bowl, mix the Flour, Salt and Baking Soda (mix 2)
- Add Mix 1 to Mix 2
- Add in the Vanilla, Water and Cocoa and mix well
- Pour into the Greased Cake Pan
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, using a toothpick to ensure proper doneness
- Once cooled, spread on the icing
